Today’s chapter was all about trust and love. The importance of us trusting God and understanding God’s love. Also a large part of this chapter was obedience. Rev. Warren shares:
That means doing whatever God asks without reservation or hesitation. You don’t procrastinate and say, “I’ll pray about it.” You do it without delay. Every parent knows that delayed obedience is really disobedience. God doesn’t owe you an explanation or reason for everything he asks you to do. Understanding can wait, but obedience can’t. Instant obedience will teach you more about God than a lifetime of Bible discussions. In fact, you will never understand some commands until you obey them first. Obedience unlocks understanding.
The trust thing is interesting for me as it is so easy to say, “Oh yes I trust God,” but its a whole other thing to actually do it. In the past I have benefited from moments where I have just done what God said and so that makes it easier to trust Him in those areas but not in others. You would think that by now, I would make the connection and know that the idea transfers across areas but there is still an area that is hard for me consistently trust God. Oh I should say I do trust God to make it happen, I just get weary when it comes to me, God and personal romantic relationships. If you float around this blog some you will see posts that reflect the steps I have taken to trust God more in this area but its still a challenge for me.
Today’s post was a nice “check myself” reminder that I do need to trust God all the way not just with stuff I want to trust Him in.
